The Mist in Mystic

About This Project

The Mist in Mystic is a series of photographs made using a process I call "water collage", during which I submerged cutouts of found imagery under water, letting the water's fluid movements determine their placements. The final image is then embedded within a white silhouette of curly, natural hairstyles sourced online.

This work illustrates a short story I wrote of the same name. A personal account of the "unruly" nature of textured hair, the story tells of the public humiliation experienced from a failed attempt to blend in.  The photographs in this series are intended to be exhibited along with the text of this short story.

What you see here is a selection of the images in this series, please contact me to inquire about viewing more.
